Pfumvudza is the real deal: Minister Ndudzo

Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Advocate Itayi Ndudzo has commended the Pfumvudza/Intwasa programme, describing it as a real game changer when it comes to food security.

He made the remarks during the Mashonaland East Provincial field day held in Hwedza District today.

The field day was held in Goto Ward 8 at Mr and Mrs Musilani’s homestead. The couple established about nine plots for the 2025/2026 agriculture season, and they expect a bumper harvest.

In an interview with Zimapapers soon after touring the plots, Minister Ndudzo applauded the farmer for religiously adhering to the guidelines of Pfumvudza/Intwasa, which culminated in a good crop.

“Today, I am pleased to have come to realise that Pfumvudza is the real game. This has been a very difficult season for most farmers because we had a lot of rain during the first part of the season and that was followed by a dry spell. Later, when most crops had already wilted, the rains came,” he said.

“What made a big difference. You can see the quality of the crop.

“You can see that the farmer has been religious in adhering to the prescriptions as given by the Agritex officers. You can see that the farmer has been faithful to the programme prescribed by the Government of Zimbabwe. Pfumvudza is the only means that we can climate-proof our agriculture.”
