THE national women’s team coach Shadreck Mlauzi has challenged all clubs to conduct scientific physical fitness tests before they start pre-season training as they are fundamental in the assessment of players.
Mlauzi said the tests would help indicate the intensity needed for pre-season training sessions.
“This shouldn’t be applied by the women teams only but the premiership league teams should also use these scientific tests.
“How can a club go about with pre-season training without going through these tests? How does a coach structure his session without testing players’ fitness?” asked Mlauzi.
He said after the tests, a coach can then decide to either start with hard physical training or aerobics.
Harare-based women outfit Black Rhinos conducted scientific tests on Thursday at Heath Streak Academy together with Bulawayo based Mighty Warriors players.
The players were tested for strength, muscular endurance, aerobics, agility and speed.
“The local national team players have been incorporated and this will allow us to deal with a lesser number when camp starts.
“The group is average at the moment but we’re going to compare them and see where each lacks,” Mlauzi said.
He said the tests would help structure the training sessions and the extent of the training.
