FOLLOWING Terrence Dzvukamanja’s exit from Orlando Pirates, a section of fans were not surprised because they often hurt him.
The fans took to their social media accounts to share their reactions to the statement on Dzvukamanja as released by Pirates on Monday afternoon.
Pirates said they had received an approach from SuperSport for the former Bidvest Wits striker’s services, and have accepted it.
While some of the fans were unhappy and surprised Dzvukamanja was leaving as they counted on him for goals ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season, several social media users understood why the nippy star was leaving. Taking a glance and the reactions to the post issued by Pirates on Twitter, the Ghost fans wished the player the best of luck at Matsatsantsa under his former coach at Wits, Gavin Hunt.
A Twitter user going by the handle Bhaze Tembisa said: “Dzuka was hurt by us fans.”
Another one identified as Nhlanhla commented: “After the abuse he suffered at the hands of our fellow supporters, I honestly don’t blame that he made up his mind to leave the club – NOW get us another scoring machine before the season starts.”
Meanwhile, former Orlando Pirates player and ex-Zimbabwe international Innocent Chikoya has slammed Dzvukamanja for being “unprofessional” in the way he dealt with his transfer to SuperSport United.
“I heard that the boy wanted to go to Zimbabwe, that was his reason,” Chikoya told KickOff.
“He didn’t do the right thing. He was supposed to be honest with the club.
“He could have said, you know what, I think I have served the club with distinction, I think I tried my best, it’s time for me to move onto another chapter. “You cannot say you are going home when you know you are going to SuperSport. “I think he was supposed to be man enough to say ‘you know what, I think I’ve done my best for the club’.
“I think it’s something that has been going on, I don’t think it’s something that just happened now. “Remember, he wasn’t playing in the league that much last season; I think that’s when he decided to think about his future.
“But immediately after deciding, they started playing him, but by then it was too late, he had already committed to SuperSport.”He finished the season well, he was supposed to continue at Pirates, as a Zimbabwean and a Buccaneer I’m not too happy that he left.
“We’ve always had a Zimbabwean in the big three, now there’s no Zimbabwean at Pirates, none at Chiefs, and also none at Sundowns.”
Pirates legend, Chikoya, feels that Dzvukamanja’s case is completely separate to that of compatriot Khama Billiat’s. — The South African.
