IN-FORM Orlando Pirates striker Tendai Ndoro has found the net 10 times in his last nine games in all major competitions to date and he continued his scoring form in their Nedbank Cup quarter-final clash triumph over Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday night. Ndoro is the talk of Soweto right now and has certainly taken claim of being the Buccaneers’ number one striker since Kermit Erasmus’ exit last year.
Ndoro scored his fifth goal in the Nedbank Cup this season and provided an assist as Orlando Pirates defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 after extra time at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday night to move into the semi-finals.
The Buccaneers, who played much of the match with 10 men following the dismissal of defender Edwin Gyimah, join SuperSport United and Free State Stars in the final four, with the last berth set to go to either Polokwane City or Baroka FC.
Former Bucs striker Andries Sebola has informed Goal that Ndoro can finally be the replacement for the late Lesley Manyathela, who tragically lost his life in August 2003 while still on the books of Pirates.
“I think for now he’s the solution for Pirates. If you remember it was the same thing with (Thamsanqa) Gabuza when (Kermit) Erasmus was still around. Both of them were doing fine for Pirates. After Erasmus left, Gabuza started losing form,” Sebola told Goal.
“So, now it’s the turn for Ndoro to grab the opportunity with both hands and I’m happy for him because he used to sit on the bench for many, many matches. So it’s now his turn to deliver and I’m happy because he’s getting the goals,” he said.
After efforts to find Manyathela’s replacement, it seems that chairman Irvin Khoza has finally found his man in Ndoro, but Sebola demands that he be given more supply than he is getting now, which is very limited from midfield.
“He can be the solution for Pirates if they give him the supply. My only worry is the supply from the midfielders to the strikers. If they can give him more supply. I think the boy will score more goals because he has got the pace, height and power,” he added.
“He’s a good finisher and he’s good in positioning himself inside the box, so if they can give him the supply I think the boy will be the solution for them after Lesley Manyathela,” Sebola said. – Goal.com
