NEWLY promoted Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side Chegutu Pirates will continue with their championship winning coach Day Gutu for the 2024 season.

Chegutu Pirates started their pre-season preparations last week with several of their players who took them to the promised land in attendance.

The team was promoted from the ZIFA Northern Region Soccer League after winning the 2023 Championship race on the last day of the season.

Gutu, who took over the hot seat at the beginning of the last season, never tasted defeat at home on his way to winning the championship.

Club official, Kenes Salima said they are on track.

“We are doing well as “Zaire” and we began our pre-season last week and we will engage the coach by Friday so that we map the way forward. We are looking forward to build from the team that got us promoted but as usual we will look for some additions.

“The coach will be engaged so that he will enlighten us on the players whom he wants to bring on board. There is progress and we are hopeful that we will be in the league to compete.”
