SCORES of Lower and Upper Sixth students drawn from various schools here have described the Platinum FM Schools’ Expo as an eye-opener.
It was held at Cameron Square here on Friday.
The Expo drew students from Rimuka High 1 and Rimuka 2, Munyaradzi and Kuwadzana High Schools.
Valentine Motsi, a Munyaradzi High Upper Sixth student, said that the day was very important as she had the chance to get advice in career guidance and what the market offers.
“I had the chance to receive much-needed career guidance and also had the opportunity to learn about scholarships that are on offer.
“After getting some finer details of my choice, in my career, I am now focused on a career in law which I want to study abroad if I get the scholarship.” Abraham Kuvengawafa and Keith Gande, who are Upper Sixth students at Rimuka High 1, said that they had the opportunity to get vital information on scholarships being offered outside the country.
“The career guidance and offers from various universities that were here for the Expo have equipped us with what the future holds for us.
“We can go abroad to further our education and return home.”
Two universities, Chinhoyi University of Technology and the Zimbabwe Open University, Public Service Commission, Precious Educacothub Consultancy and the Zimbabwe National Army took the students through various options.
“As a Mashonaland West-based radio station, we found it prudent to come together with other stakeholders in the education sector to offer career guidance and to offer opportunities for students in Kadoma, the entire Mash West and the nation,” said the Platinum FM School’s Expo organiser, Otis Zimvumi.
“So, we invited most universities, the Zimbabwe National Army and other institutions to come together to offer these young learners the opportunity to choose the career path of their choice since they’re the future of the country,
“I would like to thank the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Mash West Provincial Education Director, Mr Chauke, Sanyati District School Inspector Mr Majasi and the City of Kadoma for making this event a successful one.”
