Gospel musician Nkosi kaNdlovu and The Experience held a gospel concert in Plumtree on Saturday night, which saw up-and-coming Bulawayo gospel musicians setting the stage ablaze. Dubbed Tour of My Motherland, the gospel concert which is an initiative of Nkohliso Ndlovu (aka Nkosi kaNdlovu), was aimed at developing his former school, Ezidulini in Nkayi and was held at Alen Redfern Primary School in the border town. A fair crowd attended the event compared to the recent Bulawayo and Nkayi shows.

This gospel extravaganza acted as an indicator to gospel music standards and talent Bulawayo has to offer. Plumtree gospel music fans had a treat and an opportunity to sample the works of other new up-and-coming gospel artistes such as Brother Pholani Ngwenya who is based in Cowdray Park and Andrea Dube, a gospel artiste from Hwange, who performed their supporting acts, alongside Nkosi kaNdlovu.

Dube put up a thrilling performance with his track Ngonile Nkosi Yami proving popular. Ngwenya also proved his musical prowess within the traditional gospel genre by singing tracks from his latest third album titled Asambeni Makholwa. He sang tracks such as Makabongwe and Asambeni Makholwa, keeping his fans on their toes.

Plumtree came alive with the coming on stage of Nkosi kaNdlovu and his team, The Experience. The Nkayi born and United Kingdom-based musician captivated the audience with tracks such as Sukuma uhambe taken from his third album titled My Journey.

Even after his performance, the audience begged for an encore of the song Sukuma uhambe. Besides the song itself, the dance moves of this up-and-coming gospel artiste and his team sent the audience into delirium. Ndlovu also used the podium to thank his followers who rallied behind his music.

“I would like to thank you for coming here, for giving us your time and your ears. Our main aim is to build Ezidulini Primary School in Nkayi and better the lives and future of our children through education and sourcing of textbooks for the school children,” said Ndlovu.

The tour is expected to proceed to Gweru and Harare on 28th and 29th of this month where Nkosi KaNdlovu will feature other artistes such as Takesure Zama Ncube and Mathias Mhere.
