POET Nicholas Nhire has appealed for financial support to publish his works.
Better known to fans as Sabavo Chigumbura, the Mutoko-bred poet is also itching for recognition.
In an interview, Nhire who now resides at Gilstone Farm in Beatrice, said he was earning a living from doing menial jobs.
Nhire said he was writing most of his pieces from dreams.
“I do get visions of what to relay in my sleep. Most poems that I write about my country are inspired by what I see,” he said. Nhire urged players in the creative sector to unite and embrace diversity.
“Unity brings us together, we might be gifted differently but we need to appreciate the difference in our gifts.
“Being able to harness our uniqueness brings out a diverse and inclusive industry, one that is sustainable.
“We have to work more towards creating space that suits different taste buds,” he said. A patriot at heart, Nhire has penned poems appreciating his country.
He added that he was yearning to go beyond performing within a limited crowd.
“I pray and hope someday I will perform at the provincial level and excel to a national audience.
“I want to tell the story of my beautiful and peaceful Zimbabwe,” he said.
His latest offering is a poem titled “My Country”, a dedication to Zimbabwe and Africa at large.
“A lot has changed and cultural dilution has dominated our circles.
“In this poem, I was talking about restoring our legacy and the pride of Zimbabwean culture,” he said.
Nhire is happily married with two children. He pays school fees of his children from menial jobs.
Determined to excel, Nhire said he was not looking back.
