LONDON. — Manchester United will look to finalise a world record £110million transfer of Paul Pogba from Juventus this week. Talks are at a critical stage after Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola flew to Miami to meet with his client and discuss the finer details. On Saturday, Juventus agreed to pay Napoli £78m for striker Gonzalo Higuain and there is a general acceptance from the Italians that, if United agree to pay the 20 per cent bonus due to Raiola and Pogba, which represents an additional £18.4m, they will allow the 23-year-old to return to Old Trafford. The eye-watering figures have drawn criticism from former United favourite Paul Scholes who says Pogba simply isn’t worth the money.

“For that sort of money, you want someone who is going to score 50 goals a season like Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi,” said Scholes. — The Daily Mail.
