A CHILLING crime spree unfolded near Bulawayo this week as a 21-year-old thug—part of a violent trio—was arrested for a brutal armed robbery and rape that left victims traumatized and bleeding.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the arrest of Khumbulani Vincent Gama (21), who confessed and led cops to hidden phones.
Khumbulani was part of a gang of thugs who carried out a sickening attack on a couple on 31 March 2025.
Two accomplices remain at large, including Darlington Gama (24).
The horror began on 31 March 2025 when a 37-year-old man and his 26-year-old girlfriend were ambushed while parked along Nyamandlovu Road. Three attackers accused them of cattle theft, then launched a savage assault—pistol-whipping the man and stabbing him in the buttocks with an Okapi knife.

But the nightmare worsened. The gang tied up both victims, ransacked their car, stealing US$1,000 cash and four smartphones, before one attacker dragged the woman away and raped her. The heartless thieves then drove off in the victims’ car, leaving them bound in the bush.

Miraculously, the couple freed themselves and stumbled 3km for help. Police later recovered the abandoned car, but the engine was still running.
