Police in Mashonaland East province have launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly murdered a woman from Dema, Seke district and dumped the body in a rubbish pit.
The remains of Taurwi Chizhanje (44) of Rusirevi Village, Chief Seke were discovered by Mr Kuvarega Mativenga of Murisa Park in Seke, on his way to Murisa business centre on October 26, 2024, in the morning.
Reports are that he reported the matter to the police who attended the scene and discovered the body with multiple injuries all over, with the right eye plucked out.
Also, it is reported that the body had a deep cut on the chin, and right ear, a cut near the private parts and another one on the left breast.
Police spokesperson for Mashonaland East Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi confirmed the incident.
“On October 26, 2024, at around 7 am, the informant, Mr Mativenga was walking from his home going to the Murisa business centre in Dema, using Chitsvatsva-Murisa dust road. He noticed a spoor of blood stains and tyre marks on the road going to the northern side of the road.
“He then followed the spoor for about 10 metres which led him to an open pit converted to a rubbish pit. He found the body of a woman lying facing upwards. He then proceeded to Ziko police base and filed a report,” he said.
He said police attended the scene and made several observations, among others that there were tyre marks at the centre of the road from where blood stains were first seen suggesting that the now deceased’s body could have been taken from somewhere and later dumped at the scene.
Inspector Chazovachiyi appealed to the public for information which may lead to the arrest of the suspect(s).
Meanwhile, a manhunt for a person or people who attacked and killed a Halsted employee in cold blood last month continues.
The body of the late Mr Luke Limbe (52) was discovered on September 17 2024 around 7pm at the boundary of Ruzawi and Atherstone farm in Marondera by a resident of Atherstone suburb.
Allegations are that the resident then proceeded to Atherstone Shopping Centre, where she advised the public, who also rushed to the scene.
Reports are that a well-wisher offered to ferry the body to Marondera provincial hospital, where the deceased was certified dead.
The resident made the report at ZRP Marondera Rural, where, together with Criminal Investigations Department officers, they proceeded to Marondera provincial hospital and to the scene of the crime.
Reports are that the deceased was found with deep cuts on several parts of his body caused by an unknown sharp object.
