POLICE are holding a nationwide anti-crime campaign aimed at intensifying the fight against drug and substance abuse, stock theft, sexual offences and other criminal activities as the law enforcement agency steps up efforts to build safer communities.
The campaign, which is currently underway at the Large City Hall in Bulawayo, has brought together police officers, Government officials, community leaders, businesses, chirches, civic organisations, youths and members of the public under the theme of collective responsibility in crime prevention.
The initiative is being held under the banner “A Safer Nation Starts With Us”, with police calling on Zimbabweans to actively participate in preventing crime through information sharing and community policing.
The programme will focus on combating drug and substance abuse, stock theft, sexual offences and other crimes affecting communities across the country.
The campaign also carries the message “See Something, Say Something – Working Together for a Crime Free Society”, reinforcing the importance of timely reporting of criminal activities to law enforcement agencies.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi is expected to give a keynote address.
