More than 100 people were arrested at two farms in Mazowe on allegations of dealing in dangerous drugs and operating brothels and some have now been released after paying deposit fines.
The arrests come as police have warned illegal gold miners countrywide against engaging in lawlessness.
Recently, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said on Tuesday last week police went to Amatola and Masasa farms and arrested 101 people, 63 men and 38 women, for dealing in illegal drugs and operating brothels.
“The arrests come after reports were made by people in and around the farms, resulting with the police launching an operation to crackdown on them,” he said.
Police confiscated alcoholic beverages, and Asst Comm Nyathi warned people against violating national lockdown regulations as they risk being arrested.
Police are stepping up pressure on smugglers and drug dealers.
Recently, police officers based at Chinyamupanze Base in Beitbridge arrested Prince Manyake (18) and Ernest Nguluvhe (22) for smuggling cigarettes and Broncleer worth R14 700.
The officers also arrested other suspects, Stanford Dube and Smart Moyo, for illegal possession of mbanje weighing approximately 500g valued at US$100.
Meanwhile, police said they were ready to thwart any illegal activities in mining communities.
