Police have recovered a herd of 32 stolen cattle in Mozambique, in one of the country’s major breakthroughs in concluding puzzling cases of stock theft.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the cattle were recovered during a joint operation with their Mozambican counterparts held on July 10 this year.

Comm Nyathi said the operation was set in motion to curb stock theft cases in border areas between the two countries.

“The cattle that were stolen in Zamuchaya area in Chipinge, were recovered in Mamutse area in Mozambique. The owner a resident of Mufukwa village in Chipinge positively identified the cattle,” said Comm Nyathi.

He said Zimbabwe will continue to work with authorities in Mozambique in tackling cross border crimes.
