POLICE have warned the public to be on the lookout for a suspected armed robber who is on the prowl in Matabeleland North and Midlands provinces. Carshony Munyamani, 40, originally from Manoti in Gokwe, is wanted in connection with two armed robberies he allegedly committed last year and last month.
Acting provincial spokesperson for Matabeleland North Province Sergeant Namatirai Mashona appealed to members of the public who may know Munyamani’s whereabouts to notify the police.
Sgt Mashona said Munyamani raided a shop at Lusulu Business Centre in Binga on August 29, 2015 and got away with $3, 500. He allegedly hit another at Manoti Business Centre in Gokwe on March 29, this year and got away with $2, 500.
The cops said Munyamani’s last known address was his rural home at Matanga Village, Chief Nemangwe in Gokwe. “The suspect is wanted in connection with two cases of armed robbery. He’s dangerous and brandishing a gun,” said the spokesperson.
His national identity number is 23-012533-X-23.
“Those who might have information about the suspect’s whereabouts can contact investigating officers-Detective Sergeant Ncube of C.I.D Binga on 0712968054 or Detective Assistant Inspector Dewa of C.I.D Gokwe on 0712566377/0772632479. They can even contact any nearest police station,” said Sgt Mashona.
Meanwhile, cops in Victoria Falls have launched a manhunt for a well-known criminal in the resort town, Sabelo Ncube, 33, who is accused of assaulting a patron for taking photos in a bar.
Ncube, of Jafuta Lodge and has several previous cases of assault and violence, allegedly disappeared when he was supposed to appear in court on Monday.
Victoria Falls magistrate Rangarirai Gakanje issued a warrant of arrest against him.
Ncube allegedly assaulted Tasvika Nyoni, 34, of Winmore Investments while at Brown Sugar Night Club in February.
He was served with summons to appear in court on Monday but defaulted.
The complainant, Nyoni and a witness Sadok Makore were also issued with warrants of arrest after they also defaulted despite having been subpoenaed.
“On February 1 at midnight, the complainant was taking photos in the bar when Ncube approached him and asked why he was doing that.
“Ncube snatched Nyoni’s phone and deleted the photos resulting in a misunderstanding. The accused slapped the complainant before twisting his arm and shoving him outside,” the State alleges.
Nyoni sustained a swollen arm.
