Police seek public help to identify three bodies

POLICE in Bulawayo are appealing to members of the public who are missing their relatives to assist in identifying three bodies – all males – that were found along the Bulawayo-Plumtree Road, Richmond suburb and an area near the Ascot Shopping Centre.

The three bodies are all at the United Bulawayo Hospitals where they were taken for post-mortems to ascertain the causes of death, according to Bulawayo police spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube.

“Police are investigating a murder case where the body of an unidentified male was found in a bushy area along the Bulawayo–Plumtree Road on August 25, 2024,” he said.

“An informant was walking in a bushy area, looking for his cattle that had gone missing and he met another man who was on his way for prayers at a shrine.

“The two exchanged cell phone numbers in the event the man who was going for prayers located the lost cattle. After a while, the man who was looking for his cattle got a call that there was a dead body near the shrine and the informant notified the police who attended the scene.

“The body had visible injuries and some body parts were missing. We are appealing to anyone who is missing a relative to come forward and assist in identifying the body,” said Inspector Ncube.

He said on Wednesday a male adult collapsed and died near Ascot Shopping Centre. “An adult female was on duty in the vicinity of the Ascot Shopping Centre when she saw the now deceased walking past her workplace before he fell and collapsed.

She called an ambulance and the man was announced dead at the scene. The deceased is also not known,” said Insp Ncube. On the same day, a man was found dead and floating face down in a stream in Richmond suburb.
