Policeman escapes 3-year jail term

Prosper Jemoth Nhamoinesu, was charged with attempted murder, but denied the charges.
However, Magistrate Mr Owen Tagu convicted him due to overwhelming evidence provided by the State.

It was the State’s case that on January 16 last year, the child was travelling with her parents from Beitbridge towards Tuli area.
The family offered a lift to Nhamoinesu and his workmate at Limpopo Business Centre.
Nhamoinesu was sitting in the front seat and offered to hold the baby.

The baby fell asleep and Nhamoinesu threw the baby out of the moving vehicle.
The baby sustained serious head injuries.

Nhamoinesu was arrested by his colleagues.
She was later taken to Beitbridge District Hospital for treatment.
