TWO women from Siachangwa Village under Chief Simchembu in Gokwe North who are married to the same man, seemed to share more than a husband when they were both arrested after being found in possession of dagga in their bedroom huts.
The two suspects, Rosemary Siangubula (47) and Queen Sijima (39) have since appeared in court charged with unlawful possession of dagga. They were not asked to plead and were remanded in custody to 22 August 2024.
Allegations against the two suspects, who are in a polygamous marriage to John Mudeda (51) and live in separate huts, are that on 15 August 2024, police received a tip-off that they were in possession of dagga.
Following that tip, police proceeded to the two suspects’ homesteads. Upon arrival, they identified themselves and requested to conduct a search in their bedroom huts.
Upon searching Rosemary’s bedroom hut, they found four 20-litre containers, and a small plastic bag all filled with prepared dagga.
A sack full of loose, dry dagga was also recovered at Queen’s bedroom hut, leading to the arrest of the two.
The street value of the seized dagga is yet to be determined, but the quantity recovered suggests a significant operation is underway.
