MUSHOWANI coach, Paul “Popopo” Chimalizeni was not pleased by his players’ behaviour on Saturday as complacency nearly cost them three points against struggling Royal Classic in the World Navi Northern Region Division One soccer league.Mushowani won the reverse fixture 6-0 but squeezed to a 2-1 win at home.
“I think the guys played well in the first 10 to 15 minutes and got an early goal. In the first leg we beat them 6-0 and the guys thought that we were going to overrun them just like before,” said Chimalizeni.
“But this time it was a better side from the one we played in the reverse fixture. The guys were complacent and it nearly cost us. But we managed to, at least, get a goal in the 90th minute.
“I think we need to keep working hard so that we win every game. Soccer is a crazy game, Gunners may falter and Flame Lilly may falter so we need not to lose heart,” said Chimalizeni.
The victory saw Mushowani bouncing back into third position, having dropped to fourth spot when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Seven Flames last Wednesday.
Commando dismissed Bindura United 1-0 to continue with their fine run. Team manager John Mandaza said they were hoping to be in the top four at the end of the season.
“What I can say is so far the guys are playing very well. We have improved compared to the first half. Unfortunately, we didn’t qualify for the Yadah TV Cup tournament in the first round and it demoralised my players,” said Mandaza.
