Zenzele Ntibani, a well-known DJ hailing from Gwanda, has been forced into hiding due to a series of attacks carried out by alleged Zanu-PF supporters. The attacks come after the ruling party suspected Ntibani of utilizing his popularity and his commuter omnibus as a platform to mobilize support for the opposition CCC

As a DJ, Ntibani had been regularly hired by the CCC to provide the sound system for their political events. Unfortunately, Zanu-PF members misconstrued this professional affiliation as proof of his allegiance to the opposition movement.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a relative of Ntibani expressed concerns about his safety. They stated, “Zenzele is living in constant fear for his life. The attacks on him have intensified, and he has decided it’s safer to go into hiding until tensions calm down. It’s truly disheartening to see someone who has always been passionate about music being targeted in such a manner.”

Ntibani’s rise to prominence in Gwanda’s entertainment scene has been a result of his talent and ability to curate infectious beats that appeal to a wide range of audiences. He has always maintained a reputation for being a helpful, gentle, patient, and friendly individual among his fans and peers.

However, despite his efforts to remain non-partisan in his role as a DJ, Ntibani has become a victim of the politically charged atmosphere in Gwanda. His commuter omnibus, often seen as a symbol of his success, has also been vandalized on multiple occasions, leading to further concerns for his well-being.

The police have been informed of the attacks, and investigations are said to be underway. Ntibani’s supporters and fellow entertainers are rallying around him, expressing their solidarity and calling for an end to the political intimidation and violence.

The situation serves as a reminder of the impact that politics can have on individuals’ lives, even in seemingly unrelated fields such as entertainment. The safety of artists and their ability to express themselves freely should be upheld and protected, irrespective of their affiliations.

The community of Gwanda hopes for a swift resolution to the escalating tensions and the restoration of peace, enabling Zenzele Ntibani to return to his passion for music without fear for his personal safety.
