Government will next month hold a conference to come up with strategies on how to localise and implement post-2015 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Local Government Economic Development Forum 2015 will be held at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) grounds in Bulawayo from December 15 to 17. In a letter inviting councils and other stakeholders in the sector, Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Minister Saviour Kasukuwere said his ministry fully endorsed the initiative by the Local Government Economic Development Forum as a drive to promote local economic development throughout the country.

“This initiative comes in the backdrop of His Excellency Cde Robert Mugabe together with other Heads of State and Government having adopted the Sustainable Development Goals at the United Nations summit in New York, he said.

The event’s spokesperson, Mr Ntokozo Msipha, said local authorities from across the country, property and land developers and various captains of industry had confirmed participation.
