ALL is set for the inaugural inter-suburb powerlifting competition set for Kamunhu Shopping Centre in Mabvuku tomorrow. The event is the first of its kind and will be hosted by Mabvuku, Tafara and Caledonia arts and sports development committee.
Simon Nyakudya. the MASDEC chairman, said they will introduce the new sport in conjunction with lift4life and the Zimbabwe Powerlifting Federation. ‘’We will host the inaugural inter-surburb powerlifting competition on Saturday at Kamunhu Shopping Centre in Mabvuku in conjunction with lift4life and Zimbabwe Powerlifting Federation.
‘’The new sport pioneered in Mabvuku and Tafara and is supported by United States faith-based sport organisation Lift4life.
“Powerlifting is a new sport in Zimbabwe and so far, apart from Mabvuku, Tafara and Caledonia, Glen Norah and Epworth have embraced the sport which is set to grow to other provinces of the country. ‘’The association has since registered in the name of Zimbabwe Powerlifting Federation. Winners will walk away with medals, certificates and T-shirts donated by the National Aids Council,” said Nyakudya.
