SELF-proclaimed king of kwaito, PoZee (real name Mbekezeli Mpofu) is expected to launch his third music video Abantwana Base Zim Zim at Cape to Cairo in Bulawayo on Saturday evening. The video, which features urban grooves artiste, Stach of the Amasiko fame, was shot at Cape to Cairo three weeks ago and edited by local music video director Andy Cutta.
Local artistes, Alaina, Charma Boi, Thorne and Maruis Keng will provide entertainment at the Bulawayo launch which will be followed by a Harare launch next week Thursday. The Harare launch will also coincide with PoZee’s 28th birthday.
The track, Abantwana Base Zim Zim has been riding high on local radio chart shows on ZiFM, Power FM and Star FM.
PoZee said he decided to work on a music video for Abantwana Base Zim Zim after realising it was a hit among kwaito music lovers.
“Since the track has been popular, getting quite a lot of airplay on the country’s radio stations, we saw it fit to have a music video,” he said.
An excited Stach said he enjoyed working with PoZee on the music video and would use the launch as an opportunity to share his upcoming 10 track album with those who would attend.
“I have a 10 track album that I am yet to release. On Saturday, I will perform some of the songs so that fans get a feel of the tracks that I have produced,” he said.
Stach added that he was planning to send the music video to international music channels such as Channel O and MtvBase for airplay – so as to make his music recognised internationally.
PoZee shot to fame in 2003 when he featured on his talented sister – Skhu’s album in 2003. He never looked back and has two music videos to his name – Vusa Abangasekho and Jaiva Njengomuntu Olemali which were both featured on Soweto tv last year. He is also working on his third album Feel Good after the success of Kasi Lami (2005) and Mina Lawe (2007). The Feel Good album will feature tracks such as Jaiva njengomuntu olemali and Abantwana base Zim Zim.
