ALL we can say is that it is a fast-paced 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) season that has started at alarming alacrity, with CAPS United and defending champions Scottland FC already dictating the pace.
It is a season that has produced 15 goals in Week One, the same number in Week Two, and 14 in MatchDay Three, with Week Four producing 16 as of yesterday, with one more match between Herentals and Triangle United scheduled for yesterday at Rufaro Stadium.
Under the guidance of Takesure Chiragwi, CAPS United, who have had a bright start to the season, sit at the apex of the log table with 12 points from four outings after dismissing Kelvin Kaindu’s Hardrock 2-0 at the weekend.
Makepekepe, as CAPS are fondly known, are closely followed by defending champions Scottland FC, who dispatched new boys FC Hunters 3-0 to take their points tally to eight.
“We gave Scottland FC too much respect,” said FC Hunters coach Nesbert Saruchera after recording his first defeat of the season at Rufaro.
For the first time this season, FC Hunters conceded.
Scottland are tied on eight points with third-placed former champions Dynamos, who are coming from a draw against newbies Agama.
Also on eight points are Ngezi Platinum Stars and Simba Bhora, who both played goalless draws against Chicken Inn and Highlanders, respectively.
The message reflected the leadership’s commitment to backing their team through tough times, seeking to channel fans’ passion into positive support rather than criticism, as Hardrock FC looks to bounce back from the setback. Highlanders are in position 12 with four points from as many matches.
For Manica Diamonds, it has been four games without a win. The miners have recorded their worst start ever in the PSL since their promotion in 2019. They have so far scored 0 and conceded 8 after losing to Simba Bhora, FC Platinum, Scottland and ZPC Kariba (Manica Diamonds 0-1 Simba Bhora, FC Platinum 2-0 Manica Diamonds, Manica Diamonds 0-3 Scottland, ZPC Kariba 2-0 Manica Diamonds).
Meanwhile, ex-Warriors poster boy Khama Billiat leads the PSL top goal scorers’ chart with four goals under his belt.
“Khama Billiat is a real talent. You cannot take away anything from Khama. The intelligence is there, he just has talent,” said Scottland head coach Norman Mapeza.
