PREPARATIONS for the Zanu PF Annual National People’s Conference slated for October 27 and 28 at the party’s Convention Centre in Gweru, Midlands province are at an advanced stage with sub-committees that will steer various processes having been established, the party’s National Political Commissar, Cde Mike Bimha, has said.
Among other issues, Zanu PF is expected to reflect on its achievements, the state of the party, the economy, food security and nutrition, social services, and poverty eradication.
The party will also touch on macroeconomic stability and re-engagement, infrastructure development and utilities as well as value addition and beneficiation.
Conference will also take stock of the performance of the party in the just-ended elections.
The National People’s Conference, which comes after the ruling party’s victory in the August 23 elections, is held on a rotational basis and presents a chance for reflection on party electoral promises as well as reaffirmation of the country’s vision.
In an interview yesterday, Cde Bimha said preparations for the conference are going well.
“We held a preparatory meeting at the Zanu PF Convention Centre in Gweru last week. It was our first meeting as a party as we intensified preparations for the annual conference. We have set up sub-committees to ensure the party holds a successful conference. Various committees are now seized with the preparations focusing on their areas of specialisation,” said Cde Bimha.
Those who are expected to attend from the country’s 10 provinces will be notified after endorsement from the party leadership. As usual, sister revolutionary parties will also be invited to attend the conference.
