PRESIDENT Mnangagwa yesterday called on Zimbabweans to be vigilant and guard against machinations or any attacks meant to disrupt peace, unity and stability in the country.
Addressing the 389th Ordinary Session of the Politburo at the revolutionary party’s headquarters in Harare, the President, who is also Zanu PF First Secretary, said Zimbabweans should protect their country against counter-revolutionaries.
“I, further, challenge the nation to continue to be vigilant, guarding against machinations or attacks on our peace, national unity and stability.
“Counter-revolutionaries and pretenders, in whatever format, will never succeed and must continue to be exposed and defeated. Development and prosperity for our motherland, Zimbabwe, is certain,” said President Mnangagwa.
He said Zanu-PF will forever remain a gallant, heroic revolutionary mass party with a vision for Zimbabwe.
“Zanu-PF musangano unoyera. As we approach the festive season and the new year, ngatirambei takasvinura, takangwarira muvengi. Ngatichengetedzei musangano wedu weZanu PF, masikati neusiku, tisatsauke mugwara redu,” said President Mnangagwa.
He called for unity of purpose among party members, saying counter-revolutionaries will not succeed.
“As the curtain comes down on 2025, we have much to celebrate from the viewpoint of both the party and our Zanu-PF-led Government.
“Our unity saw us prevail over many challenges encountered during the course of the year. We also rose to the occasion, and maximised on the many opportunities within our own jurisdiction as well as others beyond our borders.
“Together as one people, from all the four corners of our country, in our diversity, we achieved unprecedented milestones across every facet of our economy and society.
“We have every reason to stand tall and confident of being masters of our destiny, an independent and sovereign people,” said President Mnangagwa.
On the ongoing provincial inter-district meetings to update party grassroots structures on the outcome of the 22nd Annual National People’s conference, President Mnangagwa said party members need to prioritise collective goals over individual ambitions.
“In carrying out these grassroots feedback engagement programmes, let us always unite the party and consolidate our revolutionary ideals. Let us never put ourselves or individual members above the party.
“It is pleasing that our party structures throughout the provinces remain accountable to the grassroots membership base. Musangano wakasimba kuma-cells and villages,” said President Mnangagwa.
He lauded the party leadership at various levels for their efforts in reporting back to the party structures, resolutions from the 22nd National People’s Conference.
Currently, provincial structures are conducting inter-district meetings to provide feedback from the 22nd Zanu-PF Annual People’s Conference to party members.
“We should continue to ensure that no one and no place is left behind. Zanu-PF is a party that remains ready to welcome and accommodate the people of our great motherland Zimbabwe,” President Mnangagwa said.
He called for unity of purpose among party members during inter-district meetings.
The President said political and socio-economic activities in various communities should remain guided by the party’s aims and objectives.
He called on Politburo members to ensure that conference resolutions and decisions of the Central Committee are implemented with a clear matrix and laid out timelines.
President Mnangagwa said the supremacy of the party must be considered in all decisions made, including party programmes and projects.
“We are a constitutional party, anchored on discipline, unity and adherence to procedures. We carry the weight of our party vision,” he noted.
The President urged party members to be conversant with contemporary issues such as the impact of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) as well as Artificial Intelligence (AI), among other trends.
“We must be proactive and prepared to adapt our party in line with these developments. Our national realities, rich liberation ethos and the people-centred character of our colossal revolutionary party should not be neglected,” he said.
The party is set to hold its final Central Committee and National Consultative Assembly meetings for the year today and tomorrow.
The meetings are in fulfillment of the party’s obligations as outlined in the constitution.
A minute of silence was observed in honour of the late National Hero, Archbishop Paul Mwazha, who was the leader of the African Apostolic Church.
