Women play a pivotal role in the socio-economic development of the country and remain central in achieving inclusive growth and development, President Mnangagwa has said.

Speaking at the 2026 Zimbabwe Women Excellence Awards ceremony held at State House in Harare recently, President Mnangagwa said despite the challenges faced, including climate change and sanctions, women in the country have contributed to the overall socio-economic development.

“Across Zimbabwe and indeed the world, women play a pivotal role in the advancement of sustainable innovative solutions and community-driven development,” he said.

“They nurture families and help build stronger institutions, as they instil values and norms for ethical leadership.

“This is despite the immense challenges we are facing such as illegal sanctions and climate change.

“We take pride in their contribution to the overall socio-economic development of our country.”

President Mnangagwa also commended women for contributing to decent livelihoods, preserving our heritage and raising morally upright children.
