HARARE, Zimbabwe — His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa has toured exhibitions by young scientists at the 13th Zimbabwe International Research Symposium today, showcasing the innovative work of young scientists.

The event, organised by the Research Council of Zimbabwe, aims to promote and coordinate research across the nation, uniting young researchers from primary and secondary schools, colleges, universities, and industry leaders.
President Mnangagwa underscored the importance of fostering a research culture in Zimbabwe, emphasising that today’s young scientists are crucial for the country’s development and future competitiveness.
The symposium serves as a platform for collaboration among students, academia, policymakers, and international researchers, aligning with the National Education 5.0 framework, which seeks to integrate education, research, and innovation for societal impact.

Participants exhibited a range of projects addressing local challenges, from sustainable agriculture to health technologies, reflecting the potential of Zimbabwe’s youth to contribute to national progress. The event not only highlights the talents of young researchers but also reinforces the government’s commitment to advancing scientific inquiry and innovation in Zimbabwe.
