PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has been hailed for his policies that uplift women and youths through appointments to key Government posts.
President Mnangagwa’s administration has championed the participation of women in politics through the introduction of the 30 percent women’s quota in council as well as the extension of the quota in Parliament.
While delivering the Young Women for Economic Development solidarity message at the 20th Zanu PF National Annual People’s Conference at the Zanu PF Midlands Convention Centre yesterday, the Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Tatenda Mavetera, congratulated Zanu PF for winning the harmonised elections and thanked the President for giving youths a chance to understudy experienced elders.
“President, I want to thank you for giving us the youths the opportunity to learn from what our elders say. I first want to thank you for the 30 percent women’s quota you have given to us in councils, we are thankful as we now have women represented in councils,” she said.
Minister Mavetera also thanked the President for maintaining the quota system in Parliament which has led to the reservation of seats specifically for the young women.
“President, you are always saying ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’ and we are very grateful for the opportunity you have given to us.
“Your Excellency, we know you cannot appoint all of us, but when you appoint one of us, it is a very important development for us. We want to thank you as we now have youths in the Politburo, Executive and in Boards,” she said.
Minister Mavetera went on to describe President Mnangagwa as a pro-people leader.
“As young people we want to learn more and we want to talk less and listen more. We want to thank you for the opportunity you also gave us and indeed you are not only a people-centred person, you are a pro-people leader and also a very humble leader,” she said.
The Minister also thanked the President for giving Zanu PF’s affiliate organisations a chance to work for the party and contribute to the election victory.
Zanu PF also received solidarity messages from other political parties and affiliate organisations.
The National Chiefs Council president Chief Mtshane Khumalo commended the projects being carried out by the Second Republic.
“We are happy with the road rehabilitation and dam construction among others, to uplift the livelihoods of the people.”
Bishop Antiby Makururu of Johanne the 50th of Africa, expressed gratitude to the Second Republic for recognising and working with churches and said the churches will pray for the unconditional removal of sanctions.
ZICOSU national president Cde Pijiwest Nhamburo, who delivered the students’ solidarity message, said the bond between students and the ruling Zanu PF party is unbreakable.
“We are here not to complain nor grieve for the time to complain and grieve is over in Zimbabwe. We are happy that the new dispensation continues to restore hope and confidence among the youthful population in Zimbabwe,” he said.
The student leader went on to praise Education 5.0 which has given birth to innovation hubs at universities across the country.
