President in Ethiopia for Comesa summit

PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe arrived here yesterday for the 18th Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa Summit.
The President touched down at Bole International Airport midday from Tanzania where he attended the Third Africa-China Youth Leaders Forum.

He was welcomed by Industry and Commerce Minister Mike Bimha, Zimbabwean Ambassador to Ethiopia Albert Chimbindi, Ethiopian government officials and embassy staff.

President Mugabe is expected to address the summit today (Monday).

Ethiopian Prime Minister Haile Mariam Desalegn is expected to take over the Comesa chairmanship from DRC President Joseph Kabila.

The summit is running under the theme ‘inclusive and sustainable industrialisation’.

At a meeting at the AU headquarters here, COMESA Council of Ministers suggested the establishment of a COMESA Virtual University that will work with a network of universities in a collaborative initiative aimed at enhancing the generation and dissemination of research related to regional integration.
