President Mnangagwa has arrived in Maputo, Mozambique, where he will superintend the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding aimed at deepening relations between the two countries.
He arrived at the Maputo International Airport at about 1635hrs and was received by Mozambique’s Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Maria Manuela Lucas, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Professor

Amon Murwira, Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Mozambique Dr Victor Matemadanda and Mozambique’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe Carvalho Muária, among others.
In a brief interview at the airport, the President said he has come to strengthen Zimbabwe’s brotherhood with Mozambique.

This afternoon, a Zimbabwe-Mozambique Bi-National Commission Ministerial Meeting was held, and Prof Murwira said Harare’s presence in Maputo “for this inaugural Commission signals a renewed commitment to structured and forward-looking cooperation between our two nations”.
Minister Lucas said Zimbabwe’s presence in Maputo is not merely a formality, but “a reformation of the historic ties that unite our people”.

“Mozambique and Zimbabwe share more than a border, we share a common history of struggle, liberation and resistance,” she said at the ministerial meeting.
Yesterday, Ambassador Matemadanda said Zimbabwe and Mozambique will take advantage of the BNC to strengthen relations.

“This has been my aim from the time that I came here and to tell you the truth, we are excited that we have been able, finally, to put this relationship at this level,” said Ambassador Matemadanda.
“It’s quite a milestone. Quite a number of agreements will be signed. We are still sprucing up some.
“We are bringing all those forward to see which ones can be signed.”
