President Mnangagwa has presided over the ground-breaking ceremony of the Munhumutapa Youth Housing Programme in Mvurwi, Mashonaland Central Province.
The project, named Eastwolds, is being developed by Zimbuild.
The programme will deliver more than 300 residential stands for youths in the initial phase.
It is part of the Government’s commitment to empower young people through access to shelter and land under the Second Republic.
The broader Munhumutapa Housing Scheme will see 2 000 youths receiving residential stands.
Under the scheme, 59 hectares have been set aside in Mvurwi, while an additional 100 hectares each have been allocated at Kimcourt in Centenary and Bindura.
Government officials, Zanu PF leadership, traditional leaders and hundreds of youths attended the ceremony.
The housing initiative is being rolled out as part of the Presidential Empowerment Scheme aimed at addressing accommodation challenges for young people across the country’s 10 provinces.
