HARARE, Zimbabwe – President Emmerson Mnangagwa convened the Zimbabwe National Elders Forum (ZNEF) today at State House today, bringing together a diverse assembly of senior groups, intellectuals, and scholars from various vocations to discuss pivotal national issues.
The ZNEF aims to harness the wisdom and experience of its members to contribute to national development and policy formulation. In his opening remarks, President Mnangagwa emphasised the importance of guidance from seasoned leaders in shaping the country’s future, particularly in alignment with the Government’s Vision 2030 initiative, which seeks to transform Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.
The forum serves as a platform for addressing critical issues affecting the nation, including economic development, social cohesion, and governance.
Members are encouraged to share their knowledge and experiences to foster a collaborative approach to solving pressing challenges.
As Zimbabwe strives for sustainable growth and development, the role of the ZNEF is crucial in ensuring that the voices of elder statesmen and women are integrated into the national discourse.
The meeting reflects the Government’s commitment to inclusivity and dialogue, as it seeks to leverage the collective expertise of its senior citizens in crafting policies that resonate with the aspirations of all Zimbabweans.
