BINDURA, Zimbabwe — President Emmerson Mnangagwa officially inaugurated new facilities at Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) today, enhancing the institution’s capacity to train professionals in optometry and auditory education.

The new complex includes nine lecture rooms, a lens production laboratory, and a frames repair workshop.

President Mnangagwa highlighted the Government’s commitment to improving higher education and vocational training in Zimbabwe, saying the new facilities will play a crucial role in addressing the shortage of qualified professionals in the health sector.

The commissioning ceremony is part of broader efforts to modernise state universities and provide students with practical skills that are essential for their future careers. The development at BUSE reflects a strategic initiative to align educational offerings with national health needs and workforce demands.

Local officials and university administrators expressed gratitude for the support, saying the new infrastructure will significantly enhance the learning environment for students in the fields of optometry and audiology.

The initiative is expected to contribute to the overall improvement of healthcare services in the region.
