President Mnangagwa is meeting the national rugby team, the Sables, at State House following their triumph at the Africa Cup in July.

This triumph saw the Sables securing a spot at the 2027 Rugby World Cup, which will be hosted by Australia.

Securing the World Cup spot was a historic feat for the Sables, who last qualified for the global showcase in 1991.

President Mnangagwa availed US$100 000 to the Zimbabwe rugby national team as part of incentives in their quest to qualify for the World Cup.

Last year, the Sables players received US$6 500 each for winning the 2024 edition of the Africa Cup.
