African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) president, Dr George Elombi paid President Mnangagwa a courtesy call at State House in Harare today.

Following their closed meeting, Dr Elimbo said they had briefed the President on various projects the bank is undertaking in the region.

“We came to discuss our areas of support with the Head of State,” he said.

“This includes logistics for the creation of industrial zones, enabling us to test our own goods domestically before exporting.”

Dr Elimbo said discussions also centered on industrialisation and value addition of minerals.

The Afreximbank delegation is also in Zimbabwe to assess progress being made in the construction of the African Trade Centre.

Now at 95 percent completion, the building is located at the intersection of Herbert Chitepo Avenue and 7th Street in Harare.

It will house the bank’s Southern Africa Regional Office and will include a hotel, conference centre, and a trade information centre.

The building is set to be commissioned early next year.
