President Mnangagwa has officially sworn in Dr Polite Kambamura as the new Minister of Mines and Mining Development at a ceremony held at State House.
The event was attended by Vice President Costantino Chiwenga and Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi.
Dr Kambamura, who previously served as the Deputy Minister in the same ministry, takes over from former Minister Winston Chitando, who was relieved of his duties earlier this week.

As the Sanyati Member of Parliament, Dr Kambamura has a distinguished background in mining and education.
He first assumed the role of Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Development in 2018 and was reappointed in September 2023, a position he held until his elevation to minister.
Dr Kambamura holds a PhD in Mining Engineering, which he obtained in 2021.
Additionally, he possesses a Master’s in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Mining Engineering.
He is currently pursuing several other degrees, including another PhD in Entrepreneurship and Business Sciences at the Chinhoyi University of Technology.

This year, he graduated from Bindura University of Science Education with a Master’s Degree in Natural Resources Management and Environmental Sustainability.
