PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has applauded the people of Masvingo for turning out in their thousands for the 19th edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani/Dzimbahwe World Tourism Expo, describing their overwhelming presence as a demonstration of the province’s strong support for tourism development.

The President paid tribute to Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Chadzamira for mobilising the province and ensuring a bumper turnout at the prestigious tourism showcase.

Addressing the gathering during his keynote address, President Mnangagwa expressed his delight at the reception by the people of Masvingo.

“I thank you, Masvingo people. Ndafara, ndarafa nokuuya kwenyu. Well done,” he said, amid thunderous applause.

The President also commended Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi for her leadership and efforts in spearheading the growth and development of the tourism sector.

“Well done, well done, madam,” he said.

The enthusiastic reception reflected the growing importance of Sanganai as a platform for showcasing Zimbabwe’s tourism potential while creating opportunities for investment, business linkages and destination marketing.

The 19th edition, being held in Masvingo, has drawn tourism operators, international buyers, exhibitors, Government officials, traditional leaders, students and other stakeholders, turning the venue into a hive of activity.

A bumper crowd thronged the venue, with the main auditorium quickly reaching capacity as visitors sought to witness the official proceedings.

To accommodate the overflow, organisers set up an additional viewing platform outside the main auditorium, where those unable to secure seats could follow proceedings on a television monitor.

The strong turnout has added colour and vibrancy to the expo, underscoring the province’s embrace of the event and its potential to position Masvingo as a major tourism and investment destination.
