PRESIDENT Mnangagwa is expected to commission the US$4,5 million Romesly Irrigation Scheme in Makoni District on Wednesday.
Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development Minister Dr Anxious Jongwe Masuka yesterday toured the 384 hectare Scheme which was rehabilitated by government and it’s partners to asses the preparedness. He was accompanied by the Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution Advocate Misheck Mugadza who said the province is mobilising over 30 000 people to gather at Zambuko Primary where President Mnangagwa will address them.
“We are very happy that we will be hosting President Mnangagwa this week when he will be commissioning Romsely Irrigation Scheme. Romesly is a massive Irrigation project put up by government to irrigate 384 hectares under 24 centre pivots with 336 beneficiaries including youths and women. We are expecting over 30 000 people to gather at Zambuko Primary school where they will be addressed by the President.
“In terms of preparedness we are really fully charged as we have secured over 120 buses and also lorries and smaller vehicles,” said Minister Mugadza.
