PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has conveyed Zimbabwe’s condolences to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan following the death of Tanzania’s First Gentleman, Hafidh Ameir Hassan, describing the loss as a tragedy shared by both nations.
In a message to President Samia, President Mnangagwa said he had received news of the First Gentleman’s death with deep shock and profound sadness, and expressed sympathy on behalf of the Government and people of Zimbabwe.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Zimbabwe, my family and indeed on my own behalf, I extend to you, Your Excellency and your family, our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences,” he said.
President Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe stood in solidarity with Tanzania during its period of mourning, adding that the thoughts and prayers of Zimbabweans were with President Samia, her family and the people of Tanzania.
He also paid tribute to the late First Gentleman, saying his contribution to Tanzania’s development, particularly in the agricultural sector, would be remembered.
“As Zimbabwe, we will forever remember the lasting contributions which the First Gentleman made to the development of the United Republic of Tanzania, especially in the field of agriculture,” President Mnangagwa said.
The President said Zimbabwe shared Tanzania’s grief and expressed hope that President Samia, her family and the Tanzanian people would find comfort and strength during the difficult period.
