President Mnangagwa, who is also the ZANU PF First Secretary, has reshuffled the Politburo in accordance with the ruling party’s Constitution.
Cde Advocate Jacob Mudenda, who was the Treasurer General, has been appointed as the Secretary General of the ruling party; while Cde Patrick Chinamasa, formerly the Secretary for Legal Affairs, has been appointed as the Treasurer General.
Cde Obert Mpofu, the outgoing Secretary General, has been reassigned as the Secretary for Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi, previously the Secretary for ICT, has been appointed as the Secretary for Legal Affairs.
In a statement, Zanu PF Spokesperson, Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa said the changes are with immediate effect.
“In accordance with the Constitution of the party, specifically Article 9 Section 65 as read with Section 67, His Excellency, the President and First Secretary, Cde Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has exercised his constitutional mandate to reorganise the structure of the Politburo.
“As part of this reorganisation, these appointments and redeployments have been effected.
“The changes are effective immediately,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.
He said the reorganisation of the Politburo underscores Zanu PF’s enduring commitment to the policies, tenets and ethos of the ruling party, in service to the people and to nation of Zimbabwe.
