President Mnangagwa has challenged youths to be masters of their destiny, saying that can only be achieved if they desist from drugs and substance abuse.

He said young people have a huge role in contributing to the country’s prosperity.

The President said this today while delivering his keynote address during the commemoration of Munhumutapa Day in Mapanzure, Zvishavane.

The commemorations coincided with his 83rd birthday celebrations.

“The young people of our beloved motherland should work hard, taking advantage of available youth fund support systems to grow our economy.

“They must take advantage of the opportunities and enter the value addition and beneficiation space. No sector or part of our society is out of bounds for you.

“Our youths should not be addicted to drugs. I call upon you to shun these vices. Protect your own identity, integrity and that of the country. Drugs will stop you from fulfilling your God given purpose, leading to the degradation of our national fabric,” said President Mnangagwa.

“You must choose discipline in life, not destruction.”

Today’s commemorations drew people from across the country, including Government Ministers, Zanu PF Politburo members, legislators drawn from all the political divide, and members of the public.
