THE Second Republic, led by President Mnangagwa, has ushered in youth-centric policies that inspire young people to be innovative in nation-building, a former Junior Parliamentarian, Mr Tinashe Ngirandi, has said.
Yesterday, Mr Ngirandi delivered a book, which he penned, titled “Build Zimbabwe Together” to President Mnangagwa at State House.
The book reflects on the policies of the Second Republic and their impact on the people from the time President Mnangagwa assumed office in 2017.
He told President Mnangagwa that he felt duty-bound to deliver the book to him first before it found its way to bookshops owing to the inspiration, he derived from him.
“I decided that before I put the book in the bookshops, I should give a special copy to the man who inspired me to write the book.
“The book talks about the importance of collaboration in building Zimbabwe together. When he says ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’, it is not just a statement but a developmental statement which shows a developmental trajectory,” said the 22-year-old Mr Ngirandi as he delivered the book to President Mnangagwa.

Briefing journalists soon after meeting with President Mnangagwa, Mr Ngirandi said young people needed to write the country’s narrative rather than leave it to foreigners.
He said he derived inspiration from President Mnangagwa’s policies which he had been following since 2017.
“His Excellency, the President, congratulated me for writing such a piece of art that contributes to the building of our own country, which is rare to have young people agreeing to author our narrative.
“We have been reading about other pieces of art from other countries instead of using our authors for our purpose and narrative,” he said.
He challenged young people to take up various opportunities presented by game-changing policies that have been rolled out by President Mnangagwa.
“To young people out there, I would encourage them that, we all know the Zimbabwe that we want to see and our leader, His Excellency, President Mnangagwa has opened the door for us to contribute to national development. If you see his policies, from Education 5.0, Vision 2030 and National Development Strategy 1, it has always been to make sure they are youth-centric and call for young people to come on board with different innovative ideas to build our own country,” said Mr Ngirande, who is a former Child Parliamentarian for Shurugwi North and Junior Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation.
Mr Ngirandi said his interest was more in public affairs issues and that he had been inspired by President Mnangagwa through his speeches and policies.
President Mnangagwa’s administration has come up with several initiatives to empower young people.
He has ensured that State universities set up innovation hubs and industrial parks to allow innovation to thrive at institutions of higher learning.
The initiatives include legal reforms that sought to include young people in national discourse when he introduced a youth quota in Parliament and amended the Constitution to give legal effect to that.
