PRINCE Tazvivinga and Alice Mafume were crowned the 2025 Harare Grand Prix Open Darts Tournament champions at Ligi Restaurant in the capital at the weekend.
Tazvivinga, from Bulawayo, won the title from Mordecai Dheka, who had won the past two editions of the tournament.
A national team player, who was part of the just-ended Region 5 games in Eswatini, Tazvivinga got the better of Bernard Kativhu from Mashonaland Central.
Dheka was second runner-up while Bothwell Maromo finished fourth.
The women’s section was dominated by Mafume who beat Esnath Simon into second place.
Harare Metropolitan Province dominated the event.
The province also provided the third and fourth place winners in the women’s section as Fortunate Chivhembe and Sibongile Kagodora took third and fourth places.
Debrahim Shumba got the most 180s in the men’s section.
Nhunzvi Jonathan closed on 144 for the highest checkout.
Simon was crowned the best women player with most 180s.
Sherwin Chiwara highest closing.
Harare Darts Association secretary-general Kudakwashe Tore said he was happy with the way the tournament went.
“The third edition of the Harare Grand Prix tournament went on well and the turnout was record-breaking as compared to last year’s second edition.
“Harare failed to dominate compared to what they did last year when they won both the men and women categories and, for the first time, Dheka was stopped by Kativhu who went on to be stopped by Prince,” said Tore
