Zanu PF’s leadership for Harare Province has visited Mbare to interact with victims of an inferno that destroyed stalls and goods on sale directing them to prioritise safety and security issues ahead of their reopening.
The ruling party which commands a strong support base in Mbare also pledged to mobilise financial support for the affected traders.
Zanu PF Harare provincial chairperson Cde Goodwills Masimirembwa said empowerment of all citizens remains at the heart of the ruling party.
“The people who have been affected, those with tears, are here. So the position of Zanu PF is that the people who were operating in the retail market must continue to do so taking into account issues of safety,” he said.
“People are already doing the best they can to clean the place taking into account security issues, there are concrete pillars there which may not look safe and so on, but all that is being attended to.”
