Kadoma based learning institution, Bright Future College is maximizing efforts to ensure all its learners benefit from futuristic information communication technologies (ICT), artificial intelligence (AI) and macro-economic financial inclusion (MFI).
This was revealed at the Speech Presentation and Prize Giving Ceremony held last Friday at the college.
“We’re pleased to inform you that we’ve managed to secure twenty ICT education centred laptops for our learners. The idea is to make them keep abreast with current and future trends in accessing information and human capital development for imporoved societies,” said college operations director, Bishop Connwell Mshangwe.
The thrust taken by the college dovetails into the ICT development policy being towed by the Second Republic under the stewardship of President Mnangagwa.
Government, through the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, continues to distribute computers to schools in all the country’s provinces to ensure that no learner is left behind in embracing modern technologies.
In his quest to leave no one and no place behind, the President has also distributed computers to various institutions under the Presidential Computer Roll Out Program.
The college has fully embraced the leaving no one and no place behind mantra.
On top of ICT and AI initiatives, the college has engaged financial services giant, Central African Building Society (Cabs), for a battery of financial products targeted at high school learners.
“We have gone on an initiative to open savings accounts for learners at this college. The required fee is only US$1 so that the learner can access various products attached to the bank account. As Cabs Kadoma branch, we are going to provide a platform to teach them about various financial services sector operations and products. We hand-handle them to ensure that they have a real life experience of the macro-economic financial environment, not just theoretical knowledge.
“When they get into the next economy, after school, they will be alert to professional , ethical and integral systems as opposed to unscrupulous, fraudulent and uncouth activities. This basic knowledge we empower them with today should arm them to galvanize against uncouth activities,” Cabs Kadoma branch manager, Mr Kenneth Ndingindi explained.
The learners from the innovative college are also in for a newly crafted medical aid product.
“Another of our new products to the younger generation is a medical aid scheme tailored for the duration of the period that the child is high school. For only US$2, the learner qualifies for the medical aid scheme catering for any injury suffered when they are in school.
“As leaders, parents and elders, we’ve an obligation to invest in the future of our learners. Let’s put effort to identify children’s talent then encourage them to do the best and invest in those talents,” Mr Ndingindi said.
Learners were gifted prizes in academics, sports and extracurricular activities during the Speech Presentation and Prize Giving Ceremony.
