Prof Ncube slams Tsvangirai for bed-hopping, gay rights

as seen by his shifting positions over his purported marriage last week, the president of the smaller MDC, Professor Welshman Ncube, has said.Addressing party supporters at Maboleni Business Centre in Lower Gweru on Friday, Prof Ncube said Zimbabweans should dismiss Mr Tsvangirai as a credible candidate to rule the country because of his ongoing marriage saga and his recent remarks on gay and lesbian rights as he can not be trusted.

“What more do you want to confirm Tsvangirai’s inconsistency and frailty which is not consistent with a credible leader than the recent unfolding revelations about his person.
“When he (Mr Tsvangirai) is with the President (Mugabe) he denounces gays but the moment he flies to London and is surrounded by whites, he suddenly changes the stance and says there should be gay rights in our constitution,” said Prof Ncube, sending about 200 of his support-ers who were gathered into laughter.

“One day you hear that he is married and the next morning it’s a different story, he is refuting the marriage. So where does he stand? Such inconsistencies show that he can not be trusted to lead this country”.

Mr Tsvangirai was reported last week to have paid lobola for Ms Locadia Karimatsenga Tembo.
However, the PM is understood to be refuting the traditional marriage, implying instead that he paid “damages” after impregnating Ms Tembo out of wedlock.
Meanwhile, our Harare Bureau reports that MsTembo was yesterday formally introduced to PM Tsvangirai’s family at Humanikwa Village in Buhera.

The move was in line with local tradition which requires that a new wife be officially introduced to the husband’s family soon after the payment of the bride price.
Our Harare Bureau visited PM Tsvangirai’s rural homestead yesterday morning and found Ms Tembo and her three aunts performing traditional rites associated with the introduction of a new bride. They were sweeping the yard and fetching water from a nearby village well for Mr Tsvangirai’s relatives to take a bath.

The ceremony was performed at PM Tsvangirai’s mother, Mbuya Lydia Tsvangirai’s residence, which is adjacent to that of her son.
Mbuya Tsvangirai said Ms Tembo’s entourage arrived at the homestead around 11pm on Saturday while it was raining.

Upon their arrival, Mbuya Tsvangirai said she asked her nephew to open the gate to a security fence at the homestead.
She offered Ms Tembo and her aunts one of the bedrooms in the main house where they put up for the night.

Relatives and fellow villagers could be seen streaming to the homestead to congratulate Mbuya Tsvangirai yesterday morning. They took the chance to welcome Ms Tembo into the Tsvangirai family and wished her well.

It is understood that Ms Tembo would be in Buhera for the rest of this week where she is expected to meet most of PM Tsvangirai’s relatives.
PM Tsvangirai was last year seen in the company of Ms Tembo at tele-evangelist Joyce Meyer’s Festival of Life Conference in Harare.
