over alleged breach of contract.
Hardly a week after the Independence Gala held at Wadzanai Gardens in Shamva, Kufandiko has threatened to sue Pastor Charamba and his Fishers of Men for an unspecified amount.
Kufandiko cited Pastor Charles Charamba and his wife Olivia as the first respondents and the entire band as second respondents for walking off the stage during their performance at the provincial independence gala.
The Fishers of Men stormed off the stage in protest over the power outages much to the chagrin of fans who had thronged to see the gospel couple, who were the main act.
However, Kufandiko said the Charambas were in breach of contract and he was considering taking legal action.
“Fans felt let down by Charamba’s conduct and efforts to try and bring him back on stage were unsuccessful. Imagine many of his fans were disappointed that they got little from the first couple of gospel music.
“The Charambas performed for less than an hour and yet we had paid them in full. In fact, we paid the Charambas more than anyone else at the show. I am going to sue them,” Kufandiko fumed.
He, however, did not say how much he was going to sue the couple for but maintained that the Charambas took their fans for a ride.
Contacted for comment, Pastor Charamba was evasive and arrogant to say the least.
He neither confirmed nor denied the incident at Wadzanai Gardens in Shamva.
Asked why he ended his performance prematurely, Pastor Charamba said he could not comment.
This is not the first time Pastor Charamba has shown his other side.
He pulled a similar stunt at the Herosplush Gala held in Marondera in 2004.
And to add insult to injury, there, he threw a tantrum at the engineers in full view of the cameras.
“Mungandidaidzire kuzotanisha image yangu pamberi pevanhu (Why do you want to tarnish my image in public?)” he was quoted as saying.
The “Ndinokakama” singer rebuked the engineers for the PA system’s poor sound quality at the gala.
“I am not going to continue playing if there is no bass sound.”
He also vowed not to perform at national galas if the engineers continued to “mess up” his live performances.
The outburst stunned many fans including senior Government officials who felt Pastor Charamba should have aired his grievances through the stage manager.
During the Marondera gala, the Fishers of Men put up perhaps their worst performance as they only played three songs including “Africa Restore Your Identity” which his wife rendered so well.
It also emerged that the award-winning gospel singer’s poor showing was a result of his absence during a sound check which was done a day before the gala.
