YADAH owner, Prophet Walter Magaya, has embarked on an ambitious project to construct a 10 000-seater Chahwanda Stadium in Kwekwe.

The project is being bankrolled in partnership with Magaya’s business associate, Shepherd Chahwanda, who also owns Hardrock FC in the Zifa Midlands Division 2B.

The Kwekwe-based side will be playing in the Zifa Central Region Soccer League next season.

Magaya said he expects the facility to be complete by January 15, 2025, just three days before the Zifa elections where he is an aspiring presidential candidate.

Magaya said the stadium is being constructed in line with the Caf requirements so that it can play host to international matches.

He added that the facility will be a refined version of the Heart Stadium in Harare.

The Heart Stadium

“We have been busy with a new stadium named Chahwanda Stadium (The Heart Main Stadium), which is named after my business associate Shepherd Chahwanda,” said Magaya.

“This state-of-the-art facility is a transformed version of the Heart Arena and will have corrections of all the flaws of the Heart Arena.”

The facility is situated approximately four kilometres from the Kwekwe Central Business District.
The vision, according to Magaya, is to have a facility that can stage top-flight matches as well as international games.

“My partner is very much encouraged and we are confident we will complete this project by early January,” he added.

Magaya has also indicated that he will commence similar projects in the southern and eastern regions once he completes the Kwekwe project.

In the southern region, Victoria Falls is expected to house another Heart Stadium.
