Prospect Lithium gives back to community

MORE than 100 elderly people from Goromonzi yesterday received food hampers from a lithium mining giant, Prospect Lithium Zimbabwe (PLZ) as a way of honouring them and part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.

They received humpers with mealie meal, cooking oil, four, soap, rice, mazowe and sugar among other things.

The elderly expressed joy over the hampers and thanked PLZ for its continued support and development in their community.

Ms Delifa Furaidhoni (100) said she was happy that PLZ has remembered the elderly in their community.

“We are happy with the food hampers we have received and we would like to thank PLZ for remembering us,” she said.

Mr Peter Chirau (72) echoed the same sentiments and said PLZ has transformed lives in Goromonzi.

“We are grateful for the food that we have received from PLZ. It is very important to be remembered and we are happy. This is not the first time PLZ has done this and the company is doing a lot in developing our area,” he said.

Mr Stanford Machinga (80) concurred with his counterparts and said the food hampers will go a long way in helping them.

“We are happy that PLZ is taking care of the elderly in our community. Some of us have no one who looks after us and the company has come to our rescue.

“We also appreciate the development PLZ is doing in our community,” he said.

Goromonzi Ward 13 councillor Never Gotora thanked PLZ for remembering the elderly in their community.

“This is not the first time the company has helped people in the community. PLZ is doing a lot of development in the community among them building classroom blocks for schools, expanding roads and clinics and we are grateful,” he said.

PLZ public relations manager Mrs Rugare Dobbie said the donation was part of them honouring the elderly in the Goromonzi community.

“We are honouring the elderly in our community. We know that the month of August is when we honour our heroes as a country so in this regard, we are honouring the elderly by giving them food stuffs.”
